What is the Oregon Foreclosure Avoidance Program?

The Oregon Foreclosure Avoidance (OFA) Program is a mandatory, statewide foreclosure facilitation program. Before most lenders can begin foreclosure of a residential trust deed, they must request a meeting with the homeowner through OFA.

Once the lender pays a fee to start the process, MCM sends the homeowner a notice about the process and next steps. The homeowner must pay MCM a fee by the stated deadline, meet with a certified foreclosure counselor and submit requested documents. Once the homeowner provides their required documents, the lender must provide information about the loan and have a representative with complete authority to negotiate and commit to a foreclosure alternative, along with their attorney, appear at a resolution conference along with the homeowner and their housing counselor.

If you are behind on your mortgage or are currently experiencing financial hardship, you may be able to request a resolution conference without waiting for your lender to act.

What is a Resolution Conference?

A resolution conference is an informal meeting with your lender conducted by a “facilitator” who is a neutral party trained in both mediation and basic foreclosure issues. These sessions are commonly held online through video or phone conferencing, and homeowners can choose to attend these sessions at Resolve’s office in downtown Medford.
